knock Petal Scissors (2015)

Knock-petal-scissors is a collaboration between the visual artist Mara Baker and composer Iddo Aharony using stop-motion animation and collected sounds. Materials in the piece include photographs, rocks, petals, threads, tape and other residues generated from the making of the piece. The title playfully references the zero-sum game Rock-paper-scissors in which gestures of cutting, covering and crushing are made repetitively to reference tactile activities. Both the sounds and material gestures are shuffled intentionally throughout the piece creating a logic of it’s own.
